Assam Cricket Association mourns the death of former ranji cricketer Anwar Hussain. In a statement sent to media, President of ACA Ramen Dutta and Secretary Devajit saikia expressed their grief at the tragic news of the passing away of the former cricketer.
Sri Anwar Hussain Hazarika passed away today at around 10.00 am. He was resident of Rajabari, jorhat. Sri Hussain was 75 years old and he leaves behind his wife and two sons.
He represented Assam in the Ranji Trophy and played 16 matches from 1965 to 1973.He hold the unique record for Scoring Century in his debut match against Odisha in 1965.He also represented East Zone against MCC at Jamshedpur, Bihar 1973.
He was a very good sports organizer too and was actively involved with the Rajabari Club of Jorhat. He used to work for the differently abled child and used to run an institution named ‘ Prerona’ for those special children.
